Embodies the Japanese aesthetics of zen and wabi-sabi
Designed with a slightly roomy fit for easy movement, it can be worn comfortably in all four seasons. Whether you're lounging at home or mixing and matching this traditional wear with modern clothing, make a fashion statement that's uniquely yours.
The fabric is made of yarn with fine knots called Nep. When woven, the resulting fabric has an uneven thickness. With a tasteful finish, this time-honored technique of intentionally showing the fabric's unevenness expresses simplicity and traditional Japanese beauty. The colors of the warp and weft threads are also combined to create shades of light and dark, resulting in a sense of depth throughout the fabric.

Love my new Samue set, the material, colour, fit and how I imagine it will just get better with time.
I had an issue with the trousers which was dealt with in an efficient prompt and friendly no fuss way which is becoming rare these days ! great customer service. I have a few pieces now from MC and as long as they keep producing great pieces I will keep buying, well done to all involved .
I have worn this everyday after work since I got it . Very comfortable
This samu set is more than I could have asked for. The design and craftsmanship are incomparable. Absolutely perfect for zazen.
This is the first samue set I have ever owned, though I have long looked at various Japanese workers wearing them over the years and thought they looked comfortable and versatile. And somehow, really stylish. (They are all three!)
I discovered master craftsmanship on Instagram, finally got a pair of my own, and found they are all of the above… oh and roomy too, in a good way.
Working from home so frequently these past few years, I find I wear them a lot, doing all kinds of work & home related tasks, including gardening, as well as chilling out & easy lounging too.
(I hope it’s acceptable to wear them in such a multi-faceted way, but that’s how my days have been going- switching from one thing to next, constantly.)
Oh yes, in addition, they are so well woven (strong) and a beautiful color blue. I can see why some people might even wear the set out in public, but I use them strictly as home wear.
But the real joy of purchasing these has been getting to know the master craftsmanship brand! True to their name, their commitment to high quality and good customer service is obvious from the first exchange. I’ve now purchased several other brand items too, based on this high quality and the excellent leadership of Akira.
I'd been looking for a high quality samue set for some time when I finally came across this piece. I received my order astonishing quickly. The fabric is so comfortable. It feels high quality, luxurious, but it holds up as if it's a real workers uniform. The pants are comfortable and you can move freely in them, but it is the shirt/top that really shines. You have total freedom of movement within the garment, and you turn heads when you wear it mixed with modern western wear. I have two sets of this outfit. One I wear every day within my home as my pajamas/workwear. The other I wear out as a fashion item. If you have the money to get a higher quality set like this, I cannot recommend them enough.
The customer service is fantastic. I had a problem with my first set and they replaced the set instantly and without question. I will absolutely be buying from these people again!
Mainly found in Fukuoka Prefecture, kurume ori traces its roots to the Edo Period, and is still beloved today.
A traditional woven fabric, it features a variety of patterns made by utilizing various techniques to weave evenly dyed yarn.
The technical difficulty of Kurume Ori(weave) lies in its fine weaving technique using multiple pieces of yarn. Its unique look and feel is the result of meticulously adjusting the way the warp and weft threads are woven. Fabric woven from nep yarn which deliberately shows the unevenness of the yarn is one such technique. With a tasteful finish, this time-honored technique of intentionally showing the fabric's unevenness expresses simplicity and traditional Japanese beauty. The colors of the warp and weft threads are also combined to create shades of light and dark, resulting in a sense of depth throughout the fabric.
It is precisely through the expertise of skilled craftsmen that this traditional Japanese aesthetic can be expressed.
